I was arguing with a co-worker the other day. He was telling me that you don't want to spoil your pups too bad with affection, because as they grow older, they will lose some of their grit and not be as good of a hunting dog. I, on the other hand, have always allowed my daughters to carry them, roll them in baby strollers, apply makeup and pet them to no end. I've always felt like the more interaction, the better. The only major drawback I've seen so far is the naming. While other hunters are yelling for "Rocky", "Sally", and "Rambo", I get teased for calling "Sweetums", and "Sugar". One guy even made the comment that maybe I was a little too intimate with my animals
What is the Gutpilers take on this? All I know is the way I've always done it. Anyway else, with my girls, would be impossible anyway.
